I remember the Topshop in Oxford St. had a fish pedicure stand but I guess with the whole ban in the UK most of those places have been closed out. We (or I should say him...) jumped at the chance of having this bizarre treatment. I will admit I played a part in influencing him but he was just as intrigued as me.
Before you think, “Why did your boyfriend do it and not you?” Well... I have a enormous phobia of fish and the idea of having live fish picking the dead skin of my feet gives me goosebumps.
Thee fish are called Garra Rufa and they live and breed in some Turkish rivers and hot springs. These little fish feed on dead skin.
So what is this odd treatment all about?
The treatment only cost 20 euros for 30 minutes.
They did ask him if he had any foot diseases but didn’t bother to check it. In my head I was thinking “if someone did have a foot infection they could just lie and they wouldn’t even know”
They then followed him to a ‘foot sink’ (I can’t think of a better word to explain it). They washed his feet and covered any little cuts with waterproof bandaid.
The lady led him a to tank FILLED with tiny little fish. They reminded me of tadpoles (gross!).
You can watch the video below of Aly’s first reaction:
He remained with his foot in the tank for the next 30 minutes and found it incredibly relaxing.
When the time finished the lady helped him back to the ‘foot sink’ where he rinsed it.
He instantly felt his feet smoother. He had to put his sneakers straight after because we were going for a walk but at the end of the day when we came back to the hotel, his usually manky feet were looking quite ... pleasant haha!
Little background info: Aly is a ski instructor so his feet has years of damage (lol). He is not particularly *attentive* with his feet so I usually don’t go near it.
His feet definitely looked more polished and not as dry.
